FAO Schwarz, the world-renowned toy retailer, seeks a Director of Entertainment to oversee all in-store entertainment activities including live performances by extraordinary artists, continuous product demonstrations throughout the store, and planning and execution of breathtaking children's parties.

Responsibilities include identifying and recruiting outstanding in-store staff as well as a select number of truly gifted and original performers suitable to a prestigious family environment. The Director of Entertainment will develop and work with staff and performers to maintain a level of performance and presentation quality appropriate for one of the world's great luxury brands.

In addition, the Director of Entertainment will create and stage themed birthday parties and other events, to be held both during and after store hours. Parties need to be organized with age-appropriate activities and attention span in mind.

Experience in professional theater or public performance is a plus, as is a background in theatrical direction or stage management. Enthusiasm for working with children is a must. Candidates need to have extremely high standards and a level of taste and discernment sufficient to distinguish between the merely good and the truly unforgettable. Party planning/retail experience not mandatory, though helpful.
