Productions in Development

Following is a peek at what some of our artists have in development. Presenters and commissioners are sought for commitments to - and to receive the rewards from - development and early performances.

Lee Breuer & Bob Telson have in development:
GOSPEL ORATORIO (working title) Composer: Bob Telson. Librettists: Lee Breuer and Rev. Earl Miller.
Following their successful collaborations The Warrior Ant, The Gospel at Colonus, and Sister Suzie Cinema, Telson and Breuer are developing a concert production merging J.S. Bach's liturgical structures with Gospel for chamber orchestra, choir, actor and soloists. A commission from Meet the Composer has been awarded. Collaborating teams so far: the Brooklyn Academy of Music and Brooklyn Philharmonic, NY; the Walker Art Center and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, MN; and the Flynn Center and Vermont Symphony Orchestra, VT. Fall 2007 premiere scheduled.

A PRELUDE TO A DEATH IN VENICE Writer/director: Lee Breuer. Composer: Bob Telson.
Lee Breuer seeks to update his award-winning monologue, featuring new music by Bob Telson and singer/songwriter/actor John Margolis. The original 1980 production received an Obie and a San Francisco Critics Award. Published in 1987 by TCG Press as part of a Breuer collection titled Sister Suzie Cinema: the Collected Poems and Performances, 1976-1986.

SITI Company has in development:
A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE Tennessee Williams' masterpiece, envisioned through the aesthetic framework of the painter Francis Bacon, unfolds in a surreal world where hysteric ladies are taken to retire. Williams stated that Blanche DuBois was the comedic role of his lifetime. The heat, the desperation, the longing and the brilliant language are brought together in this tight, gripping production.

REUNION A play that re-animates the passionate artistic and political commitment of eight members of the infamous Group Theater of the 1930’s. Initially workshopped at the White Oak Plantation in May 2003 through the Sundance Theater Lab.

New projects may be added to the list at any time and existing ideas will go through metamorphosis, so bookmark this page or call 212-874-2030 for updates.
